Abstract The Uralian orogen is located along the western flank of a huge (>4000 km long) intracontinental Uralo-Mongolian mobile belt. The orogen developed mainly between the Late Devonian and the Late Permian, with a brief resumption of orogenic activity in the Lower Jurassic and Pliocene–Quaternary time. Although its evolution is commonly related to the Variscides of Western Europe, its Our understanding of the Uralian Orogen is derived from the present-day Ural Mountains, a narrow range of low to moderate topography extending for nearly 2500 km from the Caspian Basin in the south to the Arctic Ocean in the north (Fig. 1). The overall cause of the Uralian Orogeny was the late Paleozoic collision of Euramerica (Laurussia) with Siberia and Kazakhstan, one of the final stages in the construction of Pangea. However, in the northern part of the orogen, there are significant differences in the timing, The Carboniferous - Permian sedimentary succession, which was deposited during the later stage of Uralian Orogeny, can provide crucial information about the extent of contemporaneous Uralian orogensis and its influence on the tectonic evolution of southern Taimyr. The Uralian orogen is the result of a long-lasting tectonic evolution at the eastern margin of the East European Craton (Fig.

The Uralian orogeny refers to the long series of linear deformation and mountain building events that raised the Ural Mountains, starting in the Late Carboniferous and Permian periods of the Palaeozoic Era, c. 323–299 and 299–251 million years ago (Mya) respectively, and ending with the last series of continental collisions in Triassic to early Jurassic times.
